BASE works to promote and facilitate increased global investment in sustainable energy by achieving increased engagement, investment capacity and effectiveness of the public and private financial sector in the market.

BASE works in the sustainable energy sector in both developing and industrialized countries with a variety of partners on a range of international and regional projects.

BASE is a non-profit foundation and UNEP Collaborating Centre (United Nations Environment Programme). It is a partner in the UNEP/BASE Sustainable Energy Finance Initiative (SEFI).
